Mobility Day at the THI

On Mobility Day, the THI presented all facets of its core competence to representatives from politics and business, including State Secretary Roland Weigert and Dr. Reinhard Brandl, Member of the German Parliament, as well as to the interested public. "We want to make the mobility of the future tangible," THI President Professor Walter Schober emphasized. "With our mobility research, we want to make an innovative contribution to strengthening our regional mobility landscape."

Bavaria's State Secretary for Economic Affairs Roland Weigert concurred: "The comprehensive ecosystem of global players such as Audi and Airbus, a strong supplier industry, and the cutting-edge research at the Technical University make Ingolstadt a leading region for the smart digital mobility of the future. And because mobility is the basis for much of the value creation in the region, we as the state government are continuing to drive forward further development in the area of high technology and innovation. Through the High-Tech Agenda, we are investing around 17 million euros in the Air Mobility Initiative."

In addition to exhibits and information booths from corporate partners and associations, there were presentations and workshops on the topic: Professor Uwe Holzhammer, for example, explored the question of how mobility can be made sustainable. Under the heading of Hollywood Science, scientists also tested well-known blockbusters for their closeness to reality or remoteness from it. They examined whether humanoid robots and spaceships like those in science fiction films are feasible - and if so, when.
